The Network’s modelling activity on India builds on long lasting ties between CIRED and PSG at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. At the beginning of 2016, the 2 institutions decided to engage in the joint development of an IMACLIM model of India that could run coupled to the AIM End-use bottom-up model operated by PSG.
Work started in the summer of 2016 with hybridisation of national accounting and energy balance data. At the end of 2016 the 6-week stay of an Indian PhD student at CIRED allowed to complete a 22-sector hybrid matrix and to move on to modelling properly speaking. Current levels of commitment at CIRED and PSG allow anticipating an operational IMACLIM-IND by the end of summer 2018. The focus of its first implementations will be on transition pathways towards the Indian NDC.
